Melbourn lost 4-18

The 1sts fell to a heavy 18-4 defeat at Cambridge 1sts in this Division 1 clash.

An injury to regular no.1 Chris was a significant hindrance, with everyone else having to step up a string. This wasn’t a problem for Matt Sampson (1), who delivered a win over Alistair Dawson, but it proved more of a challenge for the rest of the visiting team – Vinod Duraikan (2) claimed a game against Sumit Karia before going down 3-1, whilst all of Mike Herd (3), Miles Jeanneret (4) and Kate Bradshaw (5) were beaten in straight games, Grant Bryant, Patrick Stewart and Hamish Mackenzie delivering for the hosts.

The 1sts slipped to 5th in the table after the loss.
