Melbourn lost 4-9

Week 2 of this Summer’s Herts Summer League sent the 1sts to Biggleswade. Both teams had played in Division 1 in 2024, but in the absence of a Division 1 this year they were both in Division 2 instead… which is the top Division… call it a ‘top flight game’.

It proved to be a close one as the first two strings on court were shared. Matt Sampson (1) beat Jay Ledger 3-0 (15-7, 15-9, 15-13) only for Jay’s brother, Owen, to turn the tables on Mike Herd (2) as that one ended 0-3 (8-15, 11-15, 13-15).

That sent it to a decider at third string between Miles Jeanneret and Tom Dupuy. This “didn’t go to plan” though the first two games were shared 9-15, 15-13. After that though Tom came through 9-15, 11-15 as Miles went down 1-3.

4-9 overall. On to the next game.
